Greetings fellow Legionnaires. I hope everyone had a blessed January and a good start to the New Year.
I was reminded the other day that veterans need help understanding where to go to identify what benefits are available to Veterans. Too often we assume Veterans know all about the aid that is available to them, but in reality most only know a small portion. If you, or someone you know who is a Veteran and needs help don’t hesitate to reach out and ask. Call me. If I don’t know the answer I will find someone who does and get the information. This is what makes Post 350 strong. Veterans helping Veterans.
Hope everyone is enjoying our website, http://www.kslegion350.org. I’d like to thank everyone who has given us recommendations. If you find something wrong, or outdated on the site as you navigate through the pages please let us know. You can also take advantage of the American Legion national website, and/or 2nd District’s website. We also have use of the City’s bulletin board at the Civic Center. If you don’t have internet access please come to our meetings and you will hear what correspondence we received the prior month. You can also stop by the Civic Center as see what is posted on our bulletin board. Keep informed, and encourage others to do so as well. http://www.legion.org/, http://www.ksamlegion.org/.
If you know of any veterans who are not members talk with them about joining. Bring them to one of our meetings. I want to thank the members who have been attending our monthly meetings and encourage those who have not to put it on your calendar to start. Our next two meetings will be on Tuesday, February 7, and Tuesday, March 7 at 7:00pm in Suite 118 at the Life Spring Church, 206 North Webster Street, Spring Hill, KS. Until further notice we will be meeting at the Life Spring Church while the City completes the improvements to the Civic Center. Hope to see you there. http://www.legion.org/renew

American Legion Auxiliary:
It is hard to believe that 2017 is here already. We ordered poppies for May. Christine is busying trying to work out the details of our poppy program with the schools this year. We are getting ready to gear up for Girls State as soon as the info is available. I have already received a couple of forms for the year end reports. We will be trying to get those filled and returned before District Convention. We were requested to send copy of our by-laws to department and district. Midwinter Form is in Olathe this year. Some of us will attend Feb. 3rd and 4th. We will be taking used clothing and cookies to Leavenworth on the 9th of February. We were finally able to file our E-tax after Jan the 7th with the new system. Hope it isn’t as confusing next year. We still have a few members that have not renewed their membership. We need those in as soon as you can! We will again this year sell chances on a quilt. This year it is a lap quilt.
